This program is a continuation of the Certified Nursing Assistant class. It teaches hands-on primary patient care, phlebotomy, EKG, and medication management.

A PCT typically performs venipuncture, processing and management of lab specimens, finger sticks, heel sticks, and point of care testing. A PCT can also function as an EKG technician and may perform 12 lead EKG and telemetry monitoring. They may assist with physical exams, holter monitoring, assessment of heart rates and rhythm, or stress tests. Patient care technicians are employed in hospitals, physician offices, clinics, labs, or long-term care facilities.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student may register to take the NHA national certification exam.
